Vivitrol is an extended-release injectable form of naltrexone, an FDA-approved medication for alcohol use disorder and for preventing relapse to opioid use after detox. Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist: it blocks the effects of opioids and reduces cravings, and it is not an opioid itself. Because it is long-acting, it isn't a daily pill.
Naltrexone begins only once opioids have cleared the body, because starting sooner can bring on sudden withdrawal. Your medical provider decides whether and when it fits your care.

Olympia Grove Recovery now works with a certified opioid treatment program (OTP) under a written agreement, so adults on methadone can begin detox and residential care without pausing or tapering their medication.
The OTP directing your medication keeps full clinical and dispensing authority over it, and our team coordinates with it directly.
